2008 is finally here!
January 1, 2008 by katesaltfleet
What a journey last year was. I started this blog in July and it’s been a great way of sharing ideas and meeting other bloggers out there.
So, my new year’s resolutions…
I have mixed feelings about setting resolutions. It’s great to set yourself new targets and goals, it gives you a sense of hope in the future, that your life will be better in some way. I am the sort of person who gets totally caught up in the perfectionism of doing things right and the joy then evaporates. Knitting projects, learning Spanish and even this blog have all fallen victim to my obsessive tendancies which strip all the fun out of the activity and leave me wondering why I bothered in the first place. If I am to have any sort of resolution, then it is to catch myself when I start making a project out of something, and just enjoy it for what it is. For what it’s worth here is my (deliberately short) list of things I want to achieve this year:
Stop obsessing and enjoy life more ![]()
Nurture my relationship
Complete my Spanish Diploma
Get more exercise
The tag line for this blog is “Improving my life one habit at a time”, and in 2008 each month will have a different habit that I will try and integrate into my life. If it becomes a permanent habit, great, but that’s not really what I’m setting out to do. I just want to have the satisfaction of doing them and seeing if I get any benefits from them.
Do you have any new year’s resolutions? Is there any point or are we setting ourselves up for failure? Leave a comment…

“Stop obsessing and enjoy life more” - here here! That’s one of mine, too (in my head, it’s “have more fun!”). I’ll be interested to see how the no-alcohol movement works out. I do enjoy my martinis…so for me, that’d be a tough thing to let go of. Good luck & happy new year!
