Is Agloco a scam?

In response to my earlier question (does anyone actually earn any money from Agloco?) I received an email from the Joel Comm publicity machine. Now, no disrespect to Mr Comm, who has a definite talent for exploiting money-making opportunities from the Internet, but this just confirms my earlier prejudice about this scheme.
“It has made me thousands” proclaimed the email. I don’t doubt that for one second. If you have an established reputation and an audience of several million people, then of course you’ll make money. But if you’re a an average Joe like most of us it won’t do anything, except make a packet for the big cats whose referral you followed in the first place. Maybe that’s just me being bitter.
Despite what I might have implied about Agloco being a pyramid scheme, I really don’t think that it is a scam. That doesn’t mean I’m convinced it is the road to riches either. Respected bloggers like Steve Pavlina amongst others have put forward links, would they really risk their reputations for a few quid? It’s not like these guys are desperate for the cash. There doesn’t seem to be anything sinister about the information that is needed to sign up, just the usual stuff you’d give to sign up to any web site. There is no financial risk involved. Maybe I’m just disillusioned because my friends haven’t jumped at the opportunity to join me on the bandwagon.
And the toolbar didn’t even crash my computer. So what if I haven’t gained anything, I’ve not lost anything. Oh well, looks like I’ll have to keep on working for a living.

Stumble It!
