Ten inspiring quotations
November 19, 2007 by katesaltfleet
These are some of my all time favourite quotations. I started a quotation book as an A-level English student many moons ago, orginally to help me memorise for exams, but it has grown to encompass quotations of inspriration, amusement and wisdom. I usually have a favourite quotation on a sticky note on my desk at work at any one time, which helps me focus on my true self when all around me is going crazy.
1. “No-one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” Eleanor Roosevelt
2. “The real voyage of discovery consists not in making new landscapes but in having new eyes.” Marcel Proust
3. “Peace. It doesn’t mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart” (unknown)
4. “Whoever is happy will make others happy, too.” Mark Twain
5. “To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.” Oscar Wilde
6. Keep your fears to yourself, but share your inspiration with others. Robert Louis Stevenson
7. “Philosophy is questions that may never be answered. Religion is answers that may never be questioned.” (unknown)
8. “Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.” Albert Einstein
9. “Learning without thought is labor lost.” Confucius
10. “People will do anything, no matter how absurd, in order to avoid facing their own soul.” Carl Jung
11. “You learn in life that the only person you can really correct and change is yourself.” Katharine Hepburn
That last quotation is the one currently on the sticky note on my desk.
There are also people who have set up quotation blogs, such as “and I quote” blog and Blog Quotes which are pretty impressive. I still like to collect them the old fashioned “on the road” way, for me they have more impact when I apply them to certain situations in my life.

Stumble It!
